Project Overview
Toyota needed to enhance employee engagement and communication globally with a more dynamic, centralized platform for their existing mobile app, TWoW! (Toyota Way of Work). Originally launched in 2013, the app aimed to educate employees on Toyota's culture but had grown outdated.
Toyota partnered with RTS Group and Lemon Hive to redesign and rebuild the platform using a headless architecture approach, ensuring flexibility and modern UX.
Client: Toyota, in collaboration with RTS Group
Industry: Automotive

The Challenge
Toyota's culture focuses on putting people first to promote inclusivity, but the TWoW! App wasn't meeting its goal of engaging employees.
Here are the challenges they faced:
An outdated user interface (UI) and experience (UX).
Confusing navigation and irrelevant notifications.
Limited engagement features for employees.
A monolithic architecture that hindered scalability and flexibility.
Toyota needed a modern, engaging app that reflected its corporate culture and supported global employee connections.

How I managed to solve their issues
To address the challenges, we proposed a comprehensive redesign and technical overhaul using a headless architecture to maximize backend flexibility and scalability. Our solution aimed to modernize the app interface while maintaining Toyota’s core values, corporate culture, and commitment to employee engagement. Key features included a revamped user interface, simplified navigation, personalized notifications, enhanced security, and the introduction of social features like a newsfeed and badge system for gamified engagement.
